Summer Projects Grant 2026 🌞
|
South Dublin County Council Summer Projects Grant application link will be open until Friday 8 May.
Summer Projects run for 1–4 weeks and funding is based on the length of the programme. These projects provide supervised recreational and educational activities for young people during the summer months.

Funding Opportunity: Community Safety & Youth Justice
|
Applications are now open for community safety initiatives, including projects delivered in partnership with local authorities, NGOs, and community organisations.
Both individual organisations and consortium applications are welcome, where the lead partner is a community or not-for-profit group.

Creative Europe – European Cooperation Projects Medium Scale
|
Creative Europe – European Cooperation Projects Small, Medium and Large Scale
European Cooperation Projects are transnational projects involving organisations in the cultural and creative sectors from different countries taking part in the programme. Closing 5th May.

PEACEPLUS – 1.2 Empowering Communities – Strand 2, The Institutional Capacity Development Programme
|
This call aims to build the capacity of organisations to develop new models of service delivery, which contribute to peace and reconciliation.
|
SuperValu TidyTowns Competition 2026
|
Running since 1958, the SuperValu TidyTowns competition remains one of Ireland’s leading community and environmental initiatives. With nearly 1,000 active groups and over 30,000 volunteers contributing more than 1 million hours annually, the impact continues to grow. Closing date 11 May.

PPN Summer School May 25th - 28th
|
DCU and the Dublin PPNs (Dublin City, Fingal, South Dublin, and Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown) are partnering again to deliver the PPN Summer School 2026.The programme offers free workshops for PPN members, with in-person sessions at DCU Glasnevin and evening online sessions via Zoom. The workshops are designed to support learning, skills development, and community advocacy, with input from PPN coordinators. The week will finish with a Closing Ceremony and Networking Lunch on 28 May.

South Dublin County Council is inviting public input on the future of three Priority Development Areas (PDAs): Red Cow/Cherry Orchard, Longmile, and Greenhills.
These plans aim to support mixed-use development in the short to medium term. Submissions or observations on Variation No. 3 are open until Tuesday, 12 May 2026.

City Edge & South Dublin Development Plans
|
South Dublin County Council is inviting feedback on Proposed Variation No. 3 to the County Development Plan 2022–2028, including plans for the City Edge area (Naas Road, Ballymount and Park West).
The proposal aims to support mixed-use development and identifies key areas for future growth.

Public Consultation: Ireland’s Digital Wallet

The Government has launched a public consultation on Ireland’s new Digital Wallet and is inviting feedback.
The wallet will allow you to securely store documents like your driving licence and access public services more easily.
You can also register your interest to take part in testing ahead of its rollout.

Social Justice Ireland is inviting community groups to share their experiences of opening bank accounts, as challenges in this area can impact access to grants and funding.
If you’re involved in a group, please take a few minutes to complete the survey.
Your feedback will help highlight key issues and support improvements for all.

Survey Request – Nitrous Oxide Awarenes
|
Please support a short, anonymous survey on young people’s awareness of nitrous oxide (“fast gas”). It takes just a few minutes and aims to help inform harm reduction.
We’d appreciate your help in sharing this with young people and relevant groups.

Linkage Groups Rouinkage Groups Round 2nd 2
|
Round 2 of our Linkage Group meetings has now kicked off, beginning with Social Inclusion, Housing & Equality, followed by Community, Enterprise, Tourism, Sports & Arts, and concluding with Climate Action, Environment, Transport & Planning.
There was a strong turnout across all sessions, reflecting great engagement from members and the value of these discussions in shaping PPN priorities.
There is still time to join a group, with meetings scheduled to continue again in September. All sessions were facilitated by Jamie Moore.

- We recently hosted introductory sessions for Secretaries and Representatives, supporting members to better understand their roles and strengthen connections across the network. Membership continues to grow, with new groups joining in recent weeks.
- In partnership with South Dublin County Council, we delivered an information session on the Community Infrastructure Fund, helping groups navigate the application process and funding opportunities.
- Staff attended the inaugural Dublin Mountains Partnership Community & Business Consultative Panel, gaining insight into its 2026 strategy and the role of the panel in supporting collaboration across the region.
- We also supported a Migrant Integration Strategy Focus Group, where members shared experiences and contributed to shaping more inclusive local approaches.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Ellen as she finishes her role as SDC PPN Coordinator. Ellen has made a valuable contribution to the network, and we wish her every success in her next chapter.

Social Justice Ireland has continued to publish a range of research and analysis on key policy issues.

Research Participation – Young Carers
|
Áine Evans, a Master’s student at Utrecht University, is seeking adults (18+) in Ireland or the Netherlands who grew up caring for a family member to share their experiences.
Participation involves a confidential online conversation (30–45 mins) or a flexible voice note option.

Working with Nature Awards
|
The Working with Nature Awards celebrate individuals, groups, and organisations across Ireland protecting and restoring nature. Now in its second year, the awards cover three categories: Biodiversity & Rewilding, Nature Media, and Nature Education & Wellbeing.

South Dublin Local Community Safety Partnership – Public Meeting
|
The South Dublin Local Community Safety Partnership will host a public meeting on Wednesday, 14th May at 7:30pm in Tallaght Stadium.
This meeting offers members of the community an opportunity to engage directly with local agencies, raise concerns, and contribute to ongoing efforts to enhance safety and wellbeing across the area. All residents, community groups, and stakeholders are encouraged to attend and have their voices heard.
